You can expect to be treated with respect and without judgement. Pathology testing provides important information for identifying root causes, and these can be arranged if necessary however we often use the pathology already completed by your GP. We work within an “Optimal Health Range” when reviewing blood testing results, rather than the standard “disease free range” used by allopathic medicine. This allows us to detect imbalances sooner and work on bringing the body back into balance using the data collected.
We offer a range of testing such as blood, saliva and stool. These tests are managed through our partnership with external pathology laboratories. Tests are not covered under the Medicare system. Other testing may include urine samples. You may be asked to bring in a small sample of urine which can be tested in the clinic room for the presence of glucose, heavy metal excretion or infections. These tests can be performed during any consultation at no extra charge.
Seeing a Certified Practicing Nutritionist (CPN) can help you to achieve your best health possible. Whether you have a diagnosis or want to prevent one, a holistic approach will set you on the right path to feeling great. There are no overnight fixes or magic pills, only ongoing support, nourishment, care and patience. Only tertiary educated, degree qualified, and clinically trained nutritionists are able to use the title of CPN and need to be a member of The Australasian Association and Register of Practicing Nutritionists.
Supplements are sometimes necessary, depending on your current state of health. Nutritional supplements are used to re-balance nutrient deficiencies, treat inflammation and oxidative stress, eliminate pathogens and aid in healing the digestive system. Along with dietary changes, it is our aim to use supplementation only when necessary and usually only for the short term. Long term goals are to encourage lifestyle choices that allow the body to remain in balance.
Dietary changes are often necessary to achieve a certain health goal, but this will depend on the particular health challenge at the time. Often clients come into the clinic with a lot of pain and inflammation, which is often triggered and exacerbated by certain foods. Diets may be tweaked, but only in a way that is comfortable and sustainable for you. We are not about promoting a certain style of diet, but rather making some achievable changes that will promote the body’s natural ability to heal and reduce inflammation.
BIA stands for Bio-electrical Impedance Analysis and is a method of measuring not just body weight, but also fat and muscle distribution as well as bone and hydration status. It can be an important tool in health assessment and body composition but is not compulsory. If you do not feel comfortable in having this assessment, feel free to let us know. This measurement can be incorporated into any consultation at no extra charge or you can book a 15 min appointment to have this report done for you.
We use a handheld portable Spectrophotometer device for reporting heavy metals, some vitamins and minerals that are in and around the cells of the body. It is non-invasive, painless and results are provided instantly. Hair mineral analysis is another method of providing similar reporting, however, this style of reporting tends to show what the body is excreting, and those who are poor excreters may have misleading reports. This reporting can be completed during any consultation. Alternatively, you can book a 30min appointment to simply have this test done for you. This system is safe for all ages and health conditions and can be completed on children over the age of 2 years.
Personalised meal plans are an option that some clients like to have, but some Nutritionists don’t provide them because they are very time consuming to prepare. Making dietary and lifestyle changes can be overwhelming and difficult at first and by having a Meal Plan that has been tailored for your specific needs, making the transition can be so much easier. Meal Plans include Recipes, daily planner, shopping lists, nutritional information and the options for left over meals and snacks, allowing for cooking free days to get you through your busiest days. With every dietary and lifestyle requirement covered, you can be sure you will have all the tools you need for success.
With recent changes to the private health insurance policies, some private health companies have moved away from supporting many forms of natural and holistic health. While this is a very disappointing act from the government, several have opted to include Nutrition in their policies. Please note that Dietitian services are NOT the same as Nutritionist services. Dietitians work with patients in hospitals and fall under Medicare services. Check with your Private Health provider to confirm if our services are covered in your policy.
As a CPN, we can work with NDIS and My Aged Care Clients and will usually support these clients with the same Nutritional services in the home. This includes children and adults who may otherwise struggle to attend a clinic or simply to make the service more comfortable for the client.
